Picks graded against the closing line, in public.

Closing Edge Picks posts NFL, college football and NBA plays before they start, then grades every one against where the sharpest market closed. Wins and losses swing. Beating the close is the part that lasts.

The record

Every card pick, graded the morning after it finishes. Prices are the posted number. Favorites risk enough to win 1 unit; underdogs risk 1 unit. Nothing gets deleted. This is a paper record until launch.

How a pick makes the card

Most days have zero to three plays. A day with nothing that clears the bar gets no play, and says so.

  1. Find the price gap

All day, retail sportsbook prices are compared against the sharpest market in the world. A play only exists when a book is offering a better number than the market thinks is fair.

  2. Research it three times

Each candidate gets three independent research reads on injuries, matchups and news. Two of the three have to back it with high confidence, or it doesn't go out.

  3. Grade it against the close

After the game, the pick is graded on the result and on closing line value, the gap between our number and where the market finished. Both go on this page.

Questions

What is closing line value?

The closing line is the last price before a game starts, after the market has absorbed every injury report and every big bet. If you consistently get a better number than the close, you're beating the market's best estimate, and over hundreds of bets that is the strongest predictor of long-run profit. A pick can lose and still beat the close, or win and miss it.

Why not just show wins and losses?

Because a hundred bets of wins and losses is mostly luck. Anyone can run hot for a month. Closing line value shows whether the edge is real much sooner, and it can't be faked after the fact.

When do picks launch?

When the public record reaches 100 graded picks while beating the close on average by more than 1.5%, beating it on more than 55% of picks, and showing a positive return. Waitlist members hear first.
